Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
